Marcolin, Anna Rena (aka Rena Marcolin) in her 100th year passed away on Monday April 14th 2025 at North York General Hospital. Rena will be terribly and sadly missed by nieces and nephews and cousins who she loved very much. Rena was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hugo Mark Marcolin, with whom she was happily married for 61 years. She is also predeceased by her beloved niece Amber Bole with whom she formed a special bond. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses and staff at NYGH who took such great care of her.
Rena received all of her schooling with the Loretto nuns at Loretto College School on Brunswick Avenue Toronto. After graduating from high school Rena attended Loretto College & St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto, and in 1947 she received her Bachelor of Arts from both colleges. Rena and her husband, Mark Marcolin met at University and were married at the St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel at Newman Hall at the University of Toronto in 1948. They were happily married for 61 years.
Rena later decided to attend the College of Education, and she received her Teacher's Certificate and Bachelor of Education. She taught English as a Second Language and English at George Brown College Toronto. She loved her students and her students loved her!
Rena enjoyed the arts; especially attending many seasons of The National Ballet, the Opera and the Toronto Symphony. She was a great fan of The Toronto Blue Jays and Coronation Street (with specific instructions to the family to time their calls accordingly). She also loved to travel to Italy where she met her husband's family. Rena and Mark adored all of their nieces and nephews and cousins, (Auntie Violet DiFlorio), and was equally loved in return by all of them. They all made her life completed.
A funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a visitation and reception. Both the service and reception will be held at:
Kane Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario (South of Steeles Ave. West). In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors without Borders and the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be greatly appreciated.
