Anastasios was born on March 14, 1937 in Tselepakou, Greece and passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 87 years with his family at his side.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Vassiliki “Bessie” Poulopoulos (née Stigas).
Loving father of Angela, Dina, and Joanne and genuine friend to his sons-in-law Frank and Rob. Devoted and proud pappou of Adam, Maya and James.
He will be forever remembered, loved and missed by his family and friends. Tom enjoyed working at Neilson/Cadbury for many years and he made lasting friendships with a company that treated him like family. He was given many opportunities and was proud of his accomplishments. After his retirement, he became a familiar face in the neighborhood on his walks to run errands and to catch up with friends. He was always willing to lend a hand to his family, friends and neighbors by pitching in with a DIY project or to give some gardening advice. His handy man skills were legendary. No project was too big or too daunting and if he didn’t have an appropriate tool, he quickly made one to solve the problem.
Taso loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Nothing brought a smile to his face faster than family gatherings, immediate and extended. He often sang one of the many traditional Greek songs that he knew, and he was the first on the dance floor. His family will hold dear memories of the many dance parties in the kitchen after family dinner.
Later in life, Taso developed Alzheimer’s, but even in the advanced stages, he never forgot his love for music or his love for his family.
