Ana Maria Perez, age 51. Beloved daughter of Faustino and Lolita Perez. Loving sister of Emmanuel and Jay-R. Aunt to Elijah, Emma, EJ, and Tommy. Dear sister-in-law of Cristina and Kathleen. Cherished niece, cousin, and friend of many.
Ana Maria was a remarkable soul. Her humor was infectious, even in the face of adversity. Cancer never dimmed her positive vibes or her unwavering faith. As a choir member in our church, she continued to serve dutifully, even during the trying times of cancer, inspiring everyone around her.
Chemo Sessions and Unbreakable Spirit
During her chemo sessions, Ana Maria’s resilience shone brightly. Her doctor fondly recalls how she made everyone laugh, turning those difficult moments into shared smiles. Her indomitable spirit was evident even in her high school days when she accidentally shattered a glass sliding door, bleeding but undeterred, all because she was excited to greet a classmate on the other side.
Diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in 2017, Ana Maria defied the odds. For seven years after diagnosis, she lived life fully, a testament to her stubborn nature and God’s mercy. Her determination was unwavering, and she even drove for Uber Eats after chemo sessions—a true fighter.
A Family’s Unconditional Love
Ana Maria’s parents cared for her every second. Their love was unwavering, their support unyielding. They will forever cherish the memories they shared with their beloved daughter. Ana Maria’s legacy lives on through their hearts.
Generosity and Familial Bonds
Ana Maria’s cousins, aunts and uncles held a special place in her heart. Her generosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to showering them with thoughtful gifts. She delighted in their happiness and celebrated their milestones as if they were her own.
Finding Solace
As we bid farewell to Ana Maria, we find solace in knowing that she is no longer in pain. She leaves behind cherished memories and an irreplaceable void. She was a confidante and a rock to some, endearingly called “Diva” by her Edmonton friends. To her close friends and her brothers, she was Ate Me-Ann. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
Her legacy lives on through the laughter she shared, the faith she held, and the love she freely gave.
