Alexandru Anca

With sadness and tears in our eyes, we say goodbye to our beloved Alexandru Anca (a.k.a, Sandu), who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 at MacKenzie Health Hospital. Loving husband of Ana Maria for 43 years, father of Alexandra Cristina, proud grandfather of Brooke Alexandra and father-in-law of Craig Joseph.

Sandu was born in a small village north-west of Bucharest, Romania. He grew up helping his parents on the farm, being a top student at his school and dreaming of travelling. He graduated at the top of his class from the Institute of Railway Technology at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania and went on to design and reinforce 8 railway bridges throughout the country. Later on, he changed his specialty to Civil Engineering and helped with the restoration of many of Romania’s capital heritage buildings which had been destroyed in a strong 7.4 magnitude earthquake in 1977.

Sandu was known for his generosity, kindness and loyalty to his friends and family. He always lent a helping hand to those in need. He was a risk taker, a dreamer, a perfectionist, a nurturer. Most will remember his smart humour and joie de vivre. He will be sorely missed by his family and the many friends he’s made over his rich lifetime. Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home(6191 Yonge Street, North York, Ontario)

from Thursday October 15, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday October 16, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Highland Hills Cemetery.
