Dr. Marguerite Archibald passed away in her 100th year on September 6, 2013, predeceased by her husband, Donald C. Archibald. She is the greatly beloved mother of Janet, Stuart, Ian, and Merrin (Thomson) and their families which include nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her faith in God and love for Jesus Christ motivated her life. This was demonstrated by her wisdom, integrity, and devotion to her family, friends and colleagues, and was characterized by compassion, generosity, immense energy and enthusiasm. She was a graduate of the University of Manitoba Medical School, and went on to pursue post-graduate study in Public Health at the University of Toronto, gaining her D.P.H. in 1938. She was later awarded the M.B.E. (forerunner of the Order of Canada)for her work in nutrition, maternal health and infant care. Her career in public health led to her serving as the Medical Officer of Health for the City of North York prior to the amalgamation of Toronto, where her expertise and leadership contributed to high standards of public health in the community. She advised a number of international medical organizations which proclaim hope and salvation in Jesus Christ alongside practical medical care. The family wishes to thank wonderful staff members at the Seniors’ Health Centre and North York General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at Trull Funeral Home, “North Toronto Chapel” 2704 Yonge Street (5 blocks south of Lawrence Avenue) on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. Visitation is to take place at 1 p.m. prior to the memorial service.
