William Burke age 76 of Toms River died Wednesday November 14th. He was proud of the work he did while employed by Westons of Newark for the space shuttle and then by General Dynamics of Avenel for nuclear submarines. Mr. Burke was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Berkeley Twp. He enjoyed drawing cartoons for his children and grandchildren and he was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was born and lived in Newark and then for 40 years in Hazlet before moving to Toms River in 2007. Surviving is his wife of 51 years Louise, children Debbie Tagliavia and her husband Joe of Beachwood, William, Jr. of Ocean twp., Robert and his wife Idisbeth of Middletown, Diane Burke-Mann and her husband William of Manahawkin, 10 grandchildren and his foster brother Ernie Leone of Delaware.
Visiting will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Rd. Toms River. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
