Werner Jurgensen, 86, of the Holiday City Heights section of Berkeley Twp passed away on Sunday Dec. 20, 2015 at his home. Born in Utersum/Fohr, Germany, he came to the United States in 1951 and lived in Bayonne NJ for many years before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1995. He and his wife Mary spent many winters in Davenport, FL. They were also co- owners of the Globe Delicatessen in Bayonne for over 30 years until retiring in 1985. Werner was a veteran of the US Army.
Werner was predeceased by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary Dethlefsen Jurgensen; two sons, John and his wife Diane Jurgensen of Barnegat and Bill and his wife Aida Jurgensen of Bayonne; a daughter Janet and her husband Joseph Kalinowski III of Mercerville, NJ.; and is also survived by 12 grandchildren, John Jr.and his wife Kelly Jurgensen, Billy Jurgensen, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Erik Jurgensen, Chad Jurgensen and his fiancé Kerry, Matthew Jurgensen and his wife Hillary, Liana Jurgensen and her boyfriend Tristan, Johanna Koehler and her husband Bradley, Juliana Cieszynski and her husband Brad, Christian Jurgensen, and Jenna Kalinowski and her boyfriend Michael, Elizabeth and Vincent Miranda; and 9 great-grandchildren, Liam, Hallee, Olivia, Connor, Tyler, Jaye, Brooke, Noah and Lindsay. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 11:15 AM at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
