Walter A. Skarren, 82, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Thursday December 13, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a lifelong resident there until moving to Toms River in 1997. He was a US Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War. He worked as an airplane mechanic for Pan Am Airlines for over 30 years before retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Toms River.
Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife Rita in 2007. He is survived by two daughters; Regina Simchowitz and her husband Marc of Davidson, NC and Linda Lunny and her husband Michael of Middletown, NJ; his grandchildren, Erin, Courtney, Ryan, Kelly, Conor and Harry and his two sisters Jean and Chi-Chi.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday December 15, 2012 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River at 11:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Toms River. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be made to the charity of one’s own choice.
