Walter S. Michalski, 92, of Forked River passed away on Wednesday August 29th, 2012 at Community Medical Center. Born in Trenton he resided in Edison and Toms River prior to moving to Forked River in 1998. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving from 1942 to 1945. He was awarded Three Ribbons and Three Bronze stars while serving overseas in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Walter was in top management from 1940 until he retired in 1986. He started with the Panelyte Division of St. Regis Paper Co. of Trenton as a General Foreman of the Plastics Dept. then the Fedders Corp. of Edison as General Foreman of the Refrigeration Dept. finally retiring from the S.S. White Industrial Division of Piscataway where he was an Industrial Supervisor and Manager. He was a member of the American Legion Post 339 in Hopewell, VFW Post 3117 in Edison, VFW Post 9503 in Bayville, The Old Guard Chapter 19 of Forked River and the Ocean County Polish American Club of Toms River. Walter also served in the Elks organization since 1980 with the Metuchen Elks Lodge where he was Exhaulted Ruler for two years and later joined the Toms River Elks Lodge 1875. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha in 1997, brothers Stanley, Joseph, Johnny, Frank and Chester and sister Mary. Surviving are his beloved companion Dolores Jaskot of Forked River, sons Robert Michalski of Toms River and Steven and wife Bonnie Michalski of St. Louis, MO, sister-in-laws Helen Brezinski of Trenton and Sophie Chmura, grandchildren Brian, Heather, Keith, Michael, Melissa and Marc, great grandchildren Nicole, Danielle, Caden, Faith, Michael, Jamie and Alexis and niece Joan Mattis of Yardville, NJ. Visitation will be Thursday August 30th, 2012 from 7-9pm and Friday August 31st, 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday September 1st, 2012 at 9:00am at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Toms River. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
