Thomas Jospeh McCourt (Tom), 59, of Toms River, NJ, died on Tuesday, June 24th, 2014. He was born on June 22, 1955, in Irvington, NJ, to Thomas and Noreen McCourt. As a child, he was always a performer and enjoyed competition. He played football and other competitive sports. Later in his life, after one week of knowing one another, he proposed to the love of his love, Jane. They were married on May 23, 1998. In the late 70’s, he started his 40 year career in masonry while in Colorado. This led to his position with K. Hovnanian Companies. Tom was always looking for a bet, whether it was a board game or sport. He was an avid sports fan, favoring the Denver Broncos. No one else loved music like Tom did, and no one sang as loud as he did either. Of all of the many things, Tom loved in his life – sports, music, politics – his greatest love was his family and friends. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “The Big Boss”.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Jane McCourt; his children: Amber and Jason Voigt, Tammy and Chris Black, Amanda and John Tritto, and Melinda Hoffman; his grandchildren: Arianna, Johnny, Kyla, and James; his loyal and beloved German Sheppard, Faith; and his siblings: Barbara Milici, Linda Norton, and Gary McCourt.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 26th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Services will be held on Friday at the funeral home at 11 AM. Cremation will be private.
