Thomas L. Koerner, age 75 of Toms River, a devoted, generous, loving man, who lived life led by his heart, died peacefully, Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Community Medical Center, just as he loved to be - surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Rahway, Tom grew up in the West Point Island section of Lavallette. He was president of Ozane Pest Control and Insectropolis, Toms River for 50 years and was past president of the New Jersey Pest Control Association. Tom was a graduate of Toms River High School’s class of 1959; a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Toms River; life member of Ground Swipers Rod & Gun Club, Forked River and past member of the Toms River Evening Rotary Club.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Julia Koerner and his brothers Alfred and James Koerner.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly; four sons: David and wife Loretta, Chris and wife Adrianne, Jeff and wife Claire and Tim and wife Linda; his daughter Karen and husband Steve; his brother Lawrence and wife Joan and his sister Mary DeCavalcanti. He is also survived by 10 loving grandchildren, Faith, Emily, Andrew, Kevin, Emerson, Matthew, Brianna, Ruby, Julia and Sophia.
Visiting will be held Wednesday, July 8th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A funeral mass to celebrate Tom’s life will be held Thursday, 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s R. C. Church, 685 Hooper Ave. Toms River. Services will conclude at the end of Mass, followed by a private cremation. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made in his name to www.woundedwarriorsproject.org. He told us all over and over again how lucky he was to live his life surrounded by his family. We were the lucky ones.
