Tom, or Leo to many of his friends and family, was born February 6, 1930 to Thomas and Evelyn Johnson in Detroit Michigan, where he spent his childhood with his brother, Bob. While serving in the Air Force and stationed at The Highlands he met the love of his life, Vivian Beyer, at a roller rink where he impressed her with his talent for speed skating. Tom and Viv were married on October7, 1951. They raised their 3 children in Keansburg, Middletown, and finally Toms River. Tom was the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor at Oyster Creek Nuclear Energy Plant until his retirement. Many happy memories were made camping at Moffitt Beach in upstate New York, visiting brother Bob and family in Michigan and spending winters with friends in Florida. His love of boating and camping has been passed on to 3 generations.
Tom is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Toms River, his children; Tom (Pat) Johnson of San Diego, CA, Cathy (Bob) Bialuk of Forked River, NJ, and Chris (partner Elise) Johnson of Forked River NJ. He was adored by his Grandchildren: Megan (Adam) Lofgran, Devin Johnson(fiancée Tony DeCesare), Matt Bialuk ( fiancée Ashley Smith) Jessica (Allen) Uibopuu, Kyle Johnson, and Shaylea Johnson. He was GGTom to 5 great grandsons: Porter Thomas, Jackson, Asher, Anders, and Finn Lofgran.
