Please help us celebrate the life of Samuel Carollo. Born Simone Carollo on March 11, 1929 in Bloomfield,NJ. He was a proud Bloomfield resident and he lived there until he relocated to Toms River in 2015.
A 1948 graduate of Bloomfield High School, Sam would join the US Army soon after and would serve as an MP during the Korean War. This opportunity to serve his country would remain one of the most important accomplishments of his life.
Later, during his professional career he became an expert at many things as co owner of S Carollo &Sons Bananas and School Pantry Inc, a wholesale food food service. Sam was the creator of Effective Investigations, a private investigation firm and he was also an avid real estate speculator.
Sam was passionate about football and served as a Division III College football referee and umpire for many years and for a time he enjoyed volunteering at the Bloomfield Public Library. His many successes afforded us a privileged life for which we are forever grateful; he was a renaissance man for sure.
Dedicated husband to our mom, Marie for 52 years until her passing, father to Gregory and me, grandfather to Erica Garthwaite and her husband Jon and great grandfather to their two children, Jemma and Henry. He was a loving brother, uncle, cousin and loyal friend to so many for so long.
We were blessed to have him around for 92 years. We will have a memorial service on the water in Monmouth Beach- his favorite place on the planet.
Over the years, my dad was a consistent supporter of Channel 13/PBS. He had a deep love of art, music, theater and good food that has shaped our lives for the better.
We’ll make a donation to PBS in his memory and encourage you to do the same in lieu of flowers.
Every time you watch Masterpiece Theater- think of Sam💜
Make it your best day ever.....
