Robert was born in Boston Massachusetts and later moved to New York City with his father; Thomas, mother; Catherine and 5 siblings. As a young man he had passion with radios and carried this interest to the Navy where he became a radar technician, a cutting-edge technology in use during World War II. When the war was over, he was hired by Philco. His employment took him to the Philippines where he saw firsthand the devastation the war has wrought on Manila. After return home, he met the love of his life, Dorothea. They were married for 52 years. Robert enjoyed a long career with RCA, where he was proud to be the chief technician at the TV service center in Queens NY. Robert and Dorothea raised a large family of 5 boys; Robert, Charles, John, Mark and Matthew in a modest home in Cambria Heights, Queens. Robert was an avid golfer, enjoyed tennis and shooting pool.
After retiring from RCA, Robert and Dorothea enjoying cruising, taking many excursions from Alaska to around the great cape horn of South America. Robert and Dorothea moved from Queens and settled in Holiday City South community in Toms River. Robert leaves behind his 5 sons and 3 daughters-in-law and 6 grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a service to held at 6:30 PM on Monday February 25, 2019 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. Interment will be private.Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.quinn-hoppingfh.com.
