Pat was a lifelong resident of Toms River. She was born on May 5, 1932 to Mary B. Willits and Marvin S. Campbell, in the front bedroom of the Schulthorpe House on Hooper Avenue. The house was later moved to Hadley Avenue and became the home of the Ocean County Historical Society. Pat was predeceased by her sister Margaret Ann Means, and her brother Kelly Brinley.
Pat was a graduate of Toms River High School, class of 1949. She was also a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River where she taught Sunday school. Pat’s love for the Lord was evidenced in leading her six children to salvation as well as many others.
She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Suburban Club, and Antique Seekers. Pat truly enjoyed helping others.
On June 21, 1950, Pat married the love of her life, Wallace A. “Gub” Polhemus. Pat and Gub were the owners of the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Homes.
They enjoyed sixty years of marriage and were parents to Beth (Gary) Magee, Tim (Laurel) Polhemus, Patty Polhemus Hodulich (Jim Sullivan), John (Carla) Polhemus, M. Doug (Debby) Polhemus, and Richard “Rit” (Dianne) Polhemus.
Pat had fourteen grandchildren: Heather, T.J., Patrick, Kary, Laura, David, Jonathan, Lauren, Christopher, Matthew, Amanda, Meghan, Emily, and Allison. She had thirteen great grandchildren: Kaylyn, Owen, Morgan, Hannah, Natalie, Madison, Benjamin, Christian, Luke, Gracelynne, Brayden, Bodhi, Michael, and three on the way.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5-9pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10am at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pats name to the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.
