Patricia M. Dylla, 85, of Toms River passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Pat was an exceptional mother and grandmother who took pride in providing a loving home for her family. An accomplished cook and hostess, Pat will always be remembered for cooking delicious meals for the whole family, especially on Thanksgiving, and making Christmases magical for her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Gustave and her brother John Baker. She is survived by three sons and family; Gustave Jr. and his wife Karen of Spring Lake; Jeffery and his wife Debbie of Toms River; John and his spouse Karl of Hackettstown; two sisters Jackie Banner and Lillian Wyant. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren
Pat was born November 5, 1931. She graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth in 1949. After school she worked as an executive secretary for New York Quinine and Chemical Works, Inc. in Newark. She met the love of her life, Gus, on a trip to the Poconos in 1951. They married on May 15, 1954.
Gus and Pat started their own rubber company in the basement of their Maplewood home in 1955. Pat was also an active member of the Maplewood First Aid Squad for 10 years. She became EMT certified and an American Heart CPR Instructor. She and her husband ran a very successful fund drive that enabled the members to purchase two new ambulances and have a new building constructed.
Every summer Gus and Pat would vacation with their family at the Jersey Shore. In 1969 they purchased a sailboat and spent the summers living on the boat with their family in Toms River. They later moved fulltime to Toms River. Pat was active member of local charity Open Arms since 1989, where she helped raise money for Ocean’s Harbor House and Contact of Ocean County. Gus and Pat were also members of the Toms River Cedar Mar Yacht Club and the Toms River Country Club for many years.
Pat was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by all the members of her family.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River Thursday, Nov. 2 at 11am. A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at The BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
