Patricia Gaffney, 29 and holding, passed away on Sunday April 14th, 2013 at Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care in Toms River. Born in England, she moved to Manhattan in 1956 after marrying Joseph “Jim” Gaffney at Sturgate Air Force Base, England, in 1955. She and Jim raised their family in Dunellen prior to moving to Toms River in 1998. Patricia was an avid and accomplished artist and belonged to the Artist Workshop, Sew-So Charity Organization and Friday Night Line Dancing Group, all of Berkeley Township. She volunteered at the Holiday City Clubhouse Library and worked at Bea Skydell's Doll Shop in Middlesex for eight years. She was predeceased by her sister Doreen Douglas. Surviving are her loving husband of 58 years, Jim, daughter Lee and husband Frank Travisano of Bayville, son Dean and wife Mary Ann Gaffney of Delaware Township, NJ; sisters Vivian Collinson of England, Betty Cherrell and husband Sid of England and Evelyn Whatling of Australia, many nieces and nephews and Freddie, her beloved African Water Frog. Pat was well known for her sense of humour, selflessness, and kindness. Visitation will be Thursday April 18th, 2013 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 19th, 2013 at 11:30am at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Township. Interment will follow at the New Jersey Veteran’s Cemetery.
