Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Dianna Correll, his sister Joan Marie Nutting and her husband, Larry, his four loving children, Kelly, Dave and his wife, Debbie, Carolyn and her husband, Terrence, and Debbie and her husband, Pete, as well as his eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dave was born on January 6th, 1940 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which is where he met his high school sweetheart, Dianna. They lived in Mansfield, Pennsylvania for 3 years before planting their roots in Toms River, NJ in 1964. When he moved to Toms River, he started his career as an AP History teacher at Toms River South High School. It was not long before Dave became one of the most influential educators in Toms River South’s history. His passion for educating the youth combined with his spirited nature, created an immeasurable amount of positivity throughout the classroom and beyond. He played a part in almost every single extracurricular activity throughout his time at South, but his most cherished position was being the “Voice of the Indian”. Not only did he spend countless hours announcing South football games, but he also dedicated a great deal of time to promoting school spirit. It is also important to mention that Dave was a devoted Christian to both of his churches, East Dover Baptist and First United Methodist of Toms River.
Though his dedication to his profession may seem like his greatest legacy, he is most notably known for being an incredible husband, father, and grandfather. Dave was the definition of a family man. He did everything in his power to make his family happy. This included going over the top for every holiday, especially Christmas. He was larger than life and had the warmest heart. He instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of family, which has made them an extremely tight-knit unit.
We invite all friends, family, and loved ones to join us in honoring and remembering a remarkable man who touched our lives in so many profound ways. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will forever remain in our hearts.
With love,
The Correll Family
