Matilda Sirignano Diliberto, age 86, of Naples, Italy passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Matilda followed her dream of moving to America as a young mother with her three children, Frank, Stella and Rosa. After a two week journey on the Leonardo Da Vinci Vessel, she docked in New York with her family. She began a new life in Madison, New Jersey. There she befriended many Italian descendant families and settled comfortably. Matilda was an amazing cook. She could any meal into a delicious delight and enjoyed cooking for her family and company. Over the years, friends could not visit without Matilda offering to prepare a meal or a snack. She had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back. Matilda was an extremely hard worker and raised her four children on her own. She had various jobs, working at convent station, then Fairleigh Dickinson and later worked as a Crossing Guard, where she adored the school age children. Matilda loved music and going to dance socials with her husband, Joseph. When she retired with her husband, Joseph they moved to Holiday Heights in Toms River. There they enjoyed the beach, going to Atlantic City, Community Socials and spending time with their family.
Matilda is survived by her husband, Joseph Diliberto, children, Frank Esposito and his wife Christine, Rosa Ruela and her husband Manny and Dolores Black and her husband Tim. She is loved by her grandchildren, Christopher, Frankie,Nicole, Jesse, John, Jordan, and Joseph, great grandchildren, Riley Black, Roman Oak Black and Leonardo Esposito. She was predeceased by her daughter Stella Esposito and her grandson, Trevor Black.
A visitation for Matilda will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Gate of Heaven, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
