March 18, 1956 - October 19, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and friend, Mary Burke. She passed away peacefully in her home in Forked River on Saturday, October 19th, at the age of 68, surrounded by her family and closest friend. She was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength in our lives, and her absence has left a profound void in all of us.
Mary was born in Melbourn, England, and moved to the US when she was 11 years old. With her father being in the military, she moved around a lot before settling in Bayonne, NJ. It was then that she met the love of her life, Richard, and they spent the next 50+ years building a loving life and home together.
Before her retirement, Mary spent her days as a medical office manager. But anyone that knew her, knew her true passion was her family. She dedicated her life to being a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a remarkable Gammy to her grandson.
Mary was a beacon of positivity, despite any and every challenge she was faced with. Her laughter was contagious, and she had this incredible ability to make you believe you could take on the world. She taught us the values of compassion, strength, resilience, and love. Her warmth and love enveloped everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Burke; her daughter and husband, Christina and Michael Christ; her son and partner Richie Burke and Erin Crystall; her grandson, Jackson Christ; and a large extended family and close friends. Each of us carries a piece of her heart within us, and we are eternally grateful for the time we shared.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home at 703 Main Street, Toms River, New Jersey. The memorial service will take place at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, an organization very close to her heart. http://fundraising.stjude.org/goto/maryburke
Though she may be gone, her spirit will forever remain with us. We will cherish her memory and continue to honor her legacy of love.
Rest in peace, dear Mom. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
“I’ll be right here.”
