Marie Bays Campbell, 83, of Brick, NJ, formally of Iselin, NJ passed away peacefully On May 13 2016 at Brandywine Assisted Living. Marie was born on June 18, 1932, in Jersey City to the late William and Anna Bays. She is predeceased by her husband Richard P Campbell, her sister Martha, and brother William.
Marie moved to Brick to live with her daughter in 2011. Marie lived her early years in Jersey City NJ with her sisters and brother. Marie proudly attended St Dominic's Academy. She eventually, after graduation worked in New York, New York. After marrying Richard they would move to Iselin and raised their family
Marie worked at St. Cecelia's school as a librarian and then secretary to the principal. She volunteered for many years at the Iselin Fair, Bingo, and many functions with her church. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. Marie than worked at JFK Medical Center for many years from which she retired.
Remaining to celebrate and remember her life are her sister, Winnifred VanGelder, her beloved daughter MaryEllen and her husband Robert Jakubowski, Jr., her granddaughter Megan Polhemus, her husband Wallace Polhemus, and her Great-Grandson Luke Robert Polhemus, who brought her such joy, her grandson Robert Jakubowski III, her nieces (who were her other daughters) Kathleen Commons and Karin Donnelly, her brother in law and sister in law Kenneth and Lois Campbell, her nephew Brian Campbell, and his family, and niece Tracy Zoppi and her family; sister in law Joan Feinberg many cousins. She also leaves behind her loving friends, “The Birthday Girls “ whom she cherished, A Son Richard Campbell, his children Ian, Dylan and Connor.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hope & Heroes, Columbia University Medical Center “Team Owen” 161 Fort Washington Ave., Irvington Pavilion, 7th floor, NY, NY 10032, 212-305-1420 for Owen Kohler who will beat this! Visitation will be at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River NJ on Tuesday May 17th from 4pm to 8 pm. A Mass to celebrate her life will be at St Cecelia's Roman Catholic Church, 45 Wilus Way, Iselin NJ on Wednesday May 18, at 11:00am. Interment will be immediately following at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
