Margaret Mary Scherer

Margaret Mary Scherer (nee Donnelly), age 100, of Voorhees, formerly of Marlton, Toms River, East Brunswick and Cranford, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her husband Charles, her sisters Marie, Gert and Julia, and brothers Marty, Bill and Art.

Margaret is survived by her loving children, Pat (John), Barb (Jack), Jeanne (Joe), Bob (Gemma), Rich (Nancy) and Tom (Lynn), beloved grandchildren, Melissa, Kim (Elan), Megan, Brittany (Harry), Tara, Chris (Victoria) Kyle (Justine), Dan (Lisa) and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Elizabeth. She worked for the Western Electric Co. in Kearney, and Stelton Hardware in Piscataway.

Upon moving to Toms River in 1983, Margaret became an active member of the Silver Ridge Park community. She belonged to the Woman’s Club, Bowling Club and Golf Club. Margaret also volunteered with the local SWAN chapter. SWAN is a community volunteer network that provides rides to medical appointments to local residents.

Margaret was also a member of St, Maximillian Kolbe Church in Toms River.

Margaret enjoyed traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family at the many family events they hosted.

Due to current restrictions, a private ceremony will be held. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at a future date.
