Lillian was born in Wright County, Minnesota to Otto and Iona Kuschinski in 1926. Lillian, and her younger sister and brother were raised by their parents on a working farm – producing all of their own food and livestock. After graduating from high school, she successfully convinced her father to let her move to Minneapolis where she worked for Honeywell Corporation. A few years later, she relocated to New York and worked at Schrafft’s, a well-known restaurant in Times Square. Lillian married Robert LaMarr in 1948 in New York. After their three children were born, the family moved to the suburbs of New Jersey.
Lillian also held jobs at Frequency Engineering Laboratories in Farmingdale, New Jersey, and Air Cruisers in Belmar, New Jersey. She thoroughly enjoyed working and retired at 72.
Lillian was an independent and self-reliant individual. She was a skilled herbalist, first learning to use medicinal plants and herbs on the farm and continuing this interest throughout her lifetime. She lived in her house and did her own yardwork until the age of 92. She loved cats and always seemed to have a posse of feral cats around.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Robert LaMarr, her parents Otto and Iona Kuschinski, her sister Edith, and her brother Milton.
She is survived by her son, Robert, and twin daughters Lois and Louise; her grandchildren Eric, Teresa, Robert, Melissa and Charlotte, and her great grandchildren.
The family will conduct a private burial.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of the devoted staff at Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living, Complete Care at Green Acres and Serenity Hospice.
