Josephine Carol Mahon

December 25, 1942 – April 14, 2025

Josephine Carol Mahon, a longtime resident of Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on Christmas Day in 1942 to Mildred and Benjamin Camilleri, and preceded in death by her beloved sister Marion Capone, Josephine’s life was characterized by devotion to her family, faith, friends and community.

In her early career, Josephine served as a receptionist at her family’s business, Marion Tire Repair Service in Jersey City. Her dedication to public service then flourished over 25 years where she held the prestigious position of secretary to three mayors, a role she held with distinction and pride.

A devout Catholic, Josephine’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and relationships. She is survived by her two daughters, Diana Miszkiewicz (husband Bob and children Michael, Lauren and Bobby) and Sondra Ridgeway (husband Robert and son Robert James).

Josephine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Horace (Hoddy) Mahon with whom she celebrated 20 wonderful years of marriage in Allenhurst New Jersey. She embraced a large extended family including, Holly Mahon (fiancé Bill Fischbach), Trish Bartlett (husband Charlie, daughters Tyler, Morgan and Kelly), Tracey Mahon, Michael Mahon (wife Liz and son Tanner); JP Mahon (wife June and children Devon, JP Jr., Casey, Elle and great grandson Atlas); Hoddy Mahon Jr. (wife Maria and children Hoddy, Dillon, Jake, Samantha and Sydney).

A welcoming host and dear friend, Josephine was an active member in her Toms River community. Her vibrant personality, warm heart and steadfast devotion will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 9:30am to 11:30am at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home located at 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ. A Mass will follow at 12pm at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 Saint Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ.
