Josephine "Toni" Gnizdowski

Josephine ( Toni ) Antionette DiIorio Gnizdowski, 85, passed away at home on Hospice, with her children by her side, under the strawberry moon, June 5, 2023. She was born in Westfield, NJ, raised in Rahway and lived 25 years in Brick before moving to Toms River after she retired from Reynolds Bros. Clothing Co.

She is predeceased by her parents Rosario & Mariann ( Giordano ) DiIorio and her sister & brother in law Rose Marie & Ray Johnson. Surviving are her son Thomas Gnizdowski, her daughter & son in-law Christine Gnizdowski Luccarelli and Joseph Luccarelli Jr. , her siblings George DiIorio and Mario DiIorio & his wife Helene, many nieces & nephews, in-laws, friends, and grand-kittens.

She was the best mother & friend any two children could possibly wish for, loving, protective & nurturing. She was an excellent cook & baker, enjoyed ballet, dancing, music, classic movies, musicals, sewing, crochet, crafts and nature. She was funny, considerate, and caring, the rock of her family, putting everyone she loved before herself.

During Josephine’s brave 10 yr. battle with Alzheimer’s she was fortunate and grateful to have the support of family and friends — Melanie & Matt Clark, Donna Sarnas, Elaine Wrobel, Kim Davis, Rose Marciniak, Rose Harris, Joe & Lynn Luccarelli— who visited often, took her to lunch & shopping, included her in parties & special events, and helped her children with her care.

Final arrangements will be handled by Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River. Services will be private.
