Joseph H. Meissner, 71, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Joseph lived in Hoboken, NJ up to his retirement 5 years ago, where he then moved to Toms River. After high school Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. As a young man he was a member of the American Legion. Joseph was employed by the US Postal Service in Jersey City as a Maintenance Mechanic for 35 years, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing. Joseph also loved to fix things, work on his home and spend time with his cherished family.
He was predeceased by his father John, brother William and brother-in-law Joseph Gualario. Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years Janet (Armenio) Meissner; his daughter Erica O’Brien and her husband Richard; his grandchildren Richard, Nicholas and Amelia; his sister-in-law Grace Gualario and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Jude Fitzgibbons; and two nieces Lea DiVincent and Christina Mautone.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday December 21 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River.
