Joseph George Magee

MAGEE, JOSEPH G. (Buddy), 84 of Whiting, NJ (formerly of Beachwood, Saddle Brook and Garfield) peacefully passed from this life on October 15, 2015. Cherished husband of Lillian (nee Novak). Devoted Father to Karen (Jeff) Kannegiesser and Kathy (Magee) Bird. Beloved Grandfather to Joseph and Heather Kannegiesser and Angela and Alicia Bird. Adoring brother of Joan (Frank) Zolcinski and Carol (John) Patereck. He also leaves behind 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew. He proudly served as a medic in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He was a tackle and an extra point kicker for the Boilermakers of Garfield High School, winning the House of Faust “Player’s Player” award in 1948. Joe loved his NY Giants and San Diego Chargers and taught his entire family (mostly girls) the game. In the 1970’s, Joe became a Free and Accepted Mason and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Garfield. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph O. and Bertha (Maitland) Magee. The viewing will be held Sunday, October 18th from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 5:30 p.m. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ. Family and friends are welcomed to gather at the funeral home Monday, October 19th for a final viewing from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. concluding with military honors and entombment at 11:00 a.m. at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Rd. Toms River, NJ.
