Joseph A. Campisano, 89, of Holiday City in Berkeley Township, died Friday Dec. 11th at Bey Lea Care Center, Toms River. Born in Sicily, Joseph lived for many years in Jersey City before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1998. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was an engineer with NJ Transit and Conrail for many years before retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RCC and formerly of Our Lady of Mercy RCC in Jersey City.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife Florence in 2002. He is survived by 4 sons and daughter-in-laws, Joseph and Rosemary Campisano, Robert and Christine Campisano, Richard Sr. and Josephine Campisano and James and Donna Campisano; two sisters, Gussie Kraft and Josephine DiMeola; three brothers, Salvatore, Gus and Richard Campisano; six grandchildren Mark and Michele Campisano, Joseph G. and Lori Campisano, Richard Campisano Jr., Joseph M. and Rebecca Campisano, Samuel Campisano and Luke Campisano; three great-grandchildren, Nicolle, Vincenzo and Nico.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday Dec. 15th from 4-8 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday Dec. 16th at 10:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RCC, Toms River. Burial will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center www.mskcc.org.
