Joseph R. Buttros, 96, of Berkeley Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Born in Newark, to the late Michael Sr and Amelia Buttros, Joseph had lived in Irvington, Union and East Hanover before residing in Toms River for 38 years. Joseph worked for the U.S.P.S. for 37 Years. He began as a Mail Carrier and earned a Supervisor role. He then retired and worked for Santander Bank managing their Mail Room, and retired at the age of 90.
Joseph was predeceased by his son, Joseph Buttros Jr., his two brothers, Peter and Michael Buttros, his ex wife Anna J Buttros and his loving companion Ruth Houlahan. Surviving are his Daughter Mary Ann Buttros, his daughter in law, Leslie Baker-Buttros Weber, granddaughter, Jennifer Buttros, sister, Mamie Mermini, brother, Paul Buttros and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Two Visitations will be held Wed., Dec. 28, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thurs., Dec. 29, 2022., 10 a.m., at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Toms River, with interment to follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.
