John David Murray, 61, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on January 15, 2024. Born on February 17, 1962, in Beverly, New Jersey, John, affectionately known as Pops, was a loving, smart, and funny man. He had a carefree and outgoing personality, always bringing joy to those around him. John's greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Murray, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they built a beautiful family that brought John immense happiness. His sons, Bryan, Brent, and Kevin, and his daughter, Brianna, were a source of immense pride for him. John was also a cherished father-in-law to Dana Murray and Melisa Rivera. He adored his six grandchildren, Wheeler Michael, Payton Louise, Anniston Mae, Charlotte Ruth, Truett James, and Sadie Margaret, who brought him endless joy and laughter. John had a deep passion for Philadelphia sports, and he cheered on the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies with unwavering loyalty, proudly calling himself a devoted fan. In his free time, John enjoyed coaching wrestling and visiting the beach. John leaves behind a close-knit family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his brothers, Paul, Peter, and Michael, along with their respective spouses, Carol, and Cathy, his sister-in-law, Lisa Rose, as well as many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, James Murray, and Mary Murray, as well as his mother-in-law, Marie Rose, and sister-in-law, Bernadette Murray. John attended Monsignor Donovan High School and Western New England University. He valued education and instilled its importance in his children and grandchildren. John David Murray will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His loving nature, sense of humor, and pride in his family will forever be remembered. May his soul rest in eternal peace. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ. A celebration of life in Charleston, SC will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
