John H. Foley, 85, of Toms River, passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. John was a hardworking man and had his own construction company when he retired. John was a member of the Montville Volunteer Fire Company for many years and retired as a captain. John loved spending time with his family, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to him. He loved to bowl, playing golf, card games with his brothers and sisters and going to car shows with his antique car.
John was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Marion Foley and his brothers Raymond Foley, Jr and Robert Foley. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Joann Gabowsky Foley; his four daughters Valerie Shelley and her husband Thomas of Toms River, Joni Santora and her husband John of Hammonton, NJ, Linda Shelley and her husband Michael of Brick, NJ, Janet Malanga and her husband Robert of New Smyrna Beach, FL; his son John Foley and his wife Dianne of Geneva, FL,; his grandchildren, Lauren, Jennifer, Jessica, Laree, Michael, Lindsay, Vanessa, Angela, Robbie and Ashleigh; his great-grandchildren, Maria, Alana, Ava, Matthew, Tommy, Mia, Michael, Rex, Drew and Jane.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 19, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. Burial will be private.
