Born and raised in Brooklyn, he most recently resided in Holiday City South with his beloved wife Mary.
John was a retired police officer of the New York City NYPD, a position he truly loved and continued to share tales of for the entirety of his life. He was also a veteran, having served in the Korean War as a young man. He spent the second half of his career working as an investigator with the United States Postal Service.
John was a devout follower of the Catholic faith and enjoyed participating in church services throughout his life. He made great contributions to our country not only as a war veteran, but also through two fulfilling careers in public service. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren, and was happiest spending time with family and friends. In his later years, John enjoyed many new experiences and travels, including standing on the rim of the Grand Canyon, eating pasta in Tuscany, cruises to the islands, and many special memories in Atlantic City and Maine, where he was even able to celebrate his 86th birthday this past October.
In addition to being survived by his loving wife Mary, John is survived by daughter Alexandra, as well as sons Robert, Kenneth, and John, whom he shared with his late wife Madeline. John will also be greatly missed by the families of his children, including his beloved grandchildren, by his brother Patty and cherished nieces and nephews, and by the many other family members and friends that he loved dearly.
A private service will be held under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River, and his life will be celebrated with a mass at his parish, Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church. John will be laid to rest at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
