Beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle and Great Uncle, 62
It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of James H. Symons, Jimi to all who knew him, age 62, of Toms River, NJ, on August 18, 2023.
Born July 28, 1961, in Cedar Grove NJ where he lived almost his entire life with three brothers and three sisters before moving to Toms River a few years back with his husband Frank Meagher. They met in 1986 and after a long-term relationship married on December 1, 2013.
Jimi lived life to its fullest and never looked back. He loved his dogs, which there were many over the years, enjoyed nature and all its beauty, his ever-growing family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and spending those quiet times with Frank when they were not taking in concerts or traveling to one of their favorite places, Providence RI, or just relaxing on the beach soaking up the sun. He truly loved and appreciated the simple things of life.
Jimi went to work for the Kings Supermarket early on and was with them for 36 years right up until his untimely passing. He was also a dedicated and active member of AA and celebrated his 39th anniversary on 8/06/23. Through those 39 years of service, he mentored and sponsored many in their time of need. An avid daily tea drinker, he probably made a million cups of coffee! When you think about brother Jimi, nothing but his goodness and love comes to mind.
He was a collector of odds and ends and there is no argument that he had the largest collection of Cardinals hands down. The Cardinal had a very special place in his heart. He never claimed to be a very competitive person, but play him in pool, ping pong, bowling or axe throwing, and the competitive juices exploded like an active volcano. He played to win!
James is survived by his brothers Ed Symons & MaryAnn, Bob Symons, Rick Symons, his sisters, Patricia Darcy & Ed, Sue Pritchard & Chuck, Mary Shaw & TJ and many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces & Great Nephews and In Laws. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph Symons and Helen Wacker Symons.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 3pm to 7pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A Going Home Service will be on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:30am at Christ Episcopal Church, 415 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ followed by a repast in the church hall.
