James D Sullivan, 85, of Manchester, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2023 peacefully at home. Born in Orange NJ, He grew up as a child in Upper Montclair and spent his summers at the Sea Girt shore. He lived in Howell NJ, before moving to Manchester of 45 years ago.
James was a kind, caring, loving Husband, Father, Pop Pop and Great Pop Pop. He loved his family with his heart and soul. He was the type of Father who taught his Children how to be self-reliant, hardworking and responsible. He was a contractor who built homes in the Manchester section of Pine Lake Park where his children and grandchildren at one point helped him either build, paint, decorate or sell his master pieces. He taught us never to give up, fight for what you want and believe in, and sometimes to be a little Shanty Irish (as he would call it) because it made for an interesting and fun day. Jim was the Leader of our family and he will be missed more than words can express.
When Jim wasn’t building, he was an artist. He would enjoy peaceful time creating his paintings that were displayed all over his home. Now they will be on display at his children’s and grandchildren’s home where they can be remembered for lifetimes to come.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his son, Jeffrey D. Sullivan and his wife Melanie Sullivan, daughter Leigh Anne Sullivan, grandchildren, James D. Sullivan, Alexandra Haley Sullivan, Joshua D Sullivan, great grandchildren Elliott Leigh Sullivan and Emery Cathleen Sullivan, Siblings Elizabeth Liebold.
