James Murray of Manchester passed away surrounded by his family on April 10, 2012 at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ. He was born on October 23, 1943 to his predeceased parents, Rosalie and James Murray. Jimmy was the eldest of their five children.
Jimmy found comfort in the love of his wife which lasted 45 years until his death. He loved spending time with his best friend as well as listening to Irish and bluegrass music. He was a fan of Notre Dame football and a communicant of St. John’s R.C. Church in Manchester, NJ.
Having a mother as a nurse and a father as a chemist, Jimmy naturally entered into nursing as his second career. Jimmy was a registered nurse and worked at St. Clare’s Hospital in Manhattan and later transferred to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he eventually retired in 2008. Prior to nursing, Jimmy worked as a longshoreman in Lower Manhattan which eventually led into his own exporting company.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Zenia and three children, Laura Murray of Freehold, NJ, Enna Murray of Staten Island, NY and Zenia Murray of Neptune, NJ; best friend and granddaughter, Camille Murray; daughter-in-law, Angela Durant of Neptune, NJ; and four siblings, Donald Murray of Laguna, CA, Joseph Murray of Woodside, CA, Mary Murray of Miami, FL and Patrick Murray of Beachwood, NJ.
The viewing with mass will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 2-5 pm at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains, NY. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.quinn-hoppingFh.com.
