James P. Callahan, age 93, passed away at his home on Friday, June 24, 2022. Born in Hanover Township, PA, he lived in Verona, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1995. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and is a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Jim graduated from Penn State with a degree in engineering. He spent most of his career at Kearfott-Singer where he was promoted to Director of Logistics, and was vital in the development of components for the aerospace defense industry. He was predeceased by his father, James, mother, Mary and stepson, Nicholas. Mourned and loved by his adoring wife of 26 years, Lorraine. Also grieving are his sister, AnnMarie and her children, his son James and fiancé Elena, his daughter Sally Connell and husband Jim, his daughter Patty Svehla and husband Joe, his daughter Kathy Belverio & husband Frank, his son David Callahan; his former spouse, Marcia; as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.Also left to mourn him, stepson Jeff Dransfield and wife Dawn, stepson Ken Dransfield and wife Jodie, stepdaughter Anna and husband Cafo and 4 step-grandchildren.Jim was an extremely patient, kind and loving man.His hobbies included golf, watching sports, traveling and finding anything that was broken, taking it apart and putting it back together better than it was before. A visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 W Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 12 noon at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River, NJ.
