Born in Sincelejo, Colombia to the late Victor and Caledonia Sierra, she resided there for most of her life before immigrating to the United States in 2001.
Prior to retiring, Hilda owned her own restaurant in Colombia, named after herself. She was devoted to Christ and recited the Philippians 4:13 every morning: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Her family will forever give glory to God for her life, and blessing them for her 101 years.
She was predeceased by her son, Edilberto Mejia.
Surviving are her children: Hector Pupo and Olga Melendez; her grandchildren: Duberney Ruiz, Davincy Ruiz, Luis Emilio Ruiz, Eliana Pupo, Elvis Pupo, Hector Pupo Jr. Tico, Natalia Pupo, Heyde Pupo, William Mejia, Monica Mejia, Edilberto Mejia, Mever Mejia, Juan Carlos Mejia, and Marcela Mejia; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 5-9PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A funeral service will be held in conjunction with the visitation at 7PM. Cremation will be private.
