Helen I Scott (Nee Luszko) formerly of Beachwood, NJ and Ocala, Fla passed away at her daughter’s home in Norfolk, Virginia in the presence of her hospice nurse Amy on January 7th, 2022. Helen was born on October 13, 1929, in Bayonne, NJ. She was the daughter of Boleslaus and Eva Luszko. Helen was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister-In-Law, Aunt, Great Aunt to a large family scattered throughout the country. She never hesitated to put her husband’s, children’s, and grandchildren’s needs before her own.
She was a factory worker during World War II, working alongside her sister Anne while her brothers fought for the war effort in the United States Army and her future husband as a Merchant Marine. These are just some of the many attributes in the beginnings of Helen’s long and accomplished life. Her family was the center of her world, planning family parties, barbeques’, vacations, and all family events. Then in midlife, she decided to pursue her true passion, her long-life dream of becoming a nurse. Helen was a dedicated LPN at Community Memorial Medical Center, in Toms River, NJ working on the ICU (2D) floor for many years. Prior to retiring, she received such noted awards like LPN of the year and moving acknowledgments for the Dedication and Caring that she showed each and every patient and their families, throughout her career. Upon moving to Florida, Helen and her son Ronald were very involved in Civic work for their churches and community in Spring Hill and Ocala, often working with food donations and helping to clothe and house those less fortunate.
Helen was preceded by her loving husband, Robert George Scott, Her sons Robert Francis Scott and Ronald Thomas Scott, and her grandson Robert Eric Scott, her brothers William, Joseph, Stanley, John, Steven, and her sister Anne (All of New Jersey). She is survived by her son Dennis Scott (wife Jacklyn), Daughters Kathleen Scott and Patricia Scott, son Kenny Scott (wife Susan), sister-in-law Barbara Lusko, brother-in-law George Scott (wife Kathleen), 7 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Scott family wishes to thank Sentra Hospice, Sentra Physical Therapy, Encompass Health and Old Dominion Speech Therapy for all their compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held for Helen at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home located at 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753 (732) 349-5700 from 9-11 am on June 25th, 2022, with Interment to follow at St Josephs Cemetery at 62 Cedar Grove Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753 (732) 244-3008. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Celebration of Helens Life, to be held at the Toms River Elks Located at 600 Washington Street Toms River, NJ 08753 on June 25th, 2022.
