Florence “Bunnie” McCullough Martin, 83, of Bayville, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Born in Queens, NY, she grew up in Bergen County, moved to Ocean County in 1961 and resided in Pine Beach before moving to the Sonata Bay section of Bayville. In 1953 Bunnie received her Bachelor’s degree from Paterson State Teacher’s College. For over 20 years she was an elementary school teacher, retiring from the Toms River Regional Schools, Washington Street Elementary School as a second grade teacher. After the passing of Bunnie’s first husband Frank McCullough in 1986, she became the owner of the family business, Sawyer’s Liquor Store in Beachwood for many years. Bunnie was very artistic and enjoyed cooking, crafts and gardening. She loved to sing and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and the Sharps and Flats of Sonata Bay.
She was predeceased by her son Bill McCullough, her first husband Frank McCullough and her parents Max and Eugenia Burgi. Surviving are her beloved husband William “Wiz” Martin; son Michael McCullough and his wife Betty of Beachwood; her daughter Jeannie McCullough Pinney and her husband Gerald of Westfield; two sisters Helen Edmonds of Wake Forest, NC and Mary Anne Tessaro of Jacksonville, TX; four cherished grandchildren Brittany and Shane McCullough and Frankie and Danielle Pinney; three stepsons Bill Martin, Jeffrey Martin and his wife Bette Ann and their children Devon and Tess, and Glenn Martin.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 with a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River.
