Evelyn C. Bates

Evelyn C. Bates, 97, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at The Pines in Whiting. Born in Arlington, NJ, she lived in Hazlet before moving to Whiting many years ago. Evelyn worked for RCS, Harrison Electronics Associates, West Long Branch and Perkin Elmer, Ocean Township. She was a member of Bayshore Gold Star Mothers; Philip K. Dorne Marine Corps Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Evelyn was also a former member of the Ocean County Evangelical Free Church of Lakehurst, NJ and served as a deaconess as well. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

She was predeceased by her parents Urd and Bertha Hintze and her son Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Glen D Bates. Surviving are her beloved husband of 77 years Albert K. Bates; her son David A. Bates and his wife Janet of York Spring, PA; her granddaughter Erika; two great granddaughters Gwen and Taegen; her brother Douglas Hintze and his wife Ruth; her sister-in-law Theresa Kearney Bates and many caring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 9 am to 11 am with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown, NJ.
