Elsie Constance Downs

Elsie C. Downs, 86, of Island Heights, NJ, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Bey Lea Village, Toms River, surrounded by her family. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Pinewald, NJ, and came to Island Heights in 1952.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband Harry Downs in 1993; her son Robert H. Downs in 2016, her brother George Schumacher; and her sisters Carolyn Hunter and Edna Poh. She is survived by her sons: Rodney Downs, Harry Downs and his wife Patricia, Brian Downs and his wife Christine, Ralph Downs and his wife Brenda, and Raymond Downs and his wife Colleen; her daughters: Peggy Ottoson and her husband Ernst, Donna Spagnola and her husband John; her daughter-in-law Mary Downs; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, October 14, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. Graveside prayers will take place Friday 2:00 PM at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
