Heaven gained an angel on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Elaine Elizabeth Farrand Gundy passed away after valiantly battling a lengthy illness. Born on August 14, 1941, in Newark, NJ, she was a long time Hamburg, NJ and East Hanover, NJ resident and most recently of Manchester, NJ. After graduating from Essex County Vocational School in 1959, she devoted her life to her husband and children as a homemaker.
She was a woman with an enormous, passionate presence and an insatiable hunger for adventure. She was a loving wife, mom and amazing Nana, Grandma and great GrandMAMA. Almost every story started or ended in song. She had an enormous passion for music and singing. She LOVED to shop, to bake and to cook. Her love for her grand dogs and grand cats were undeniable as well. Her greatest pleasure was giving to others. Her laughter, the mischievous twinkle in her eye and the way she believed in all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be greatly missed.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Francis Farrand; father-in-law, Joseph Gundy; mother-in-law, Lucille Gundy and loving sister-in-law, Delores Caponetto. She is survived by her loving husband, Florian Gundy of almost 63 years; her older sister Barbara Umstot; her brother-in-law, Joseph Gundy; her sister-in-law, Florine Gundy; her cherished children, Lori, Gregory (Rinee) and Debbie (Jamie); her 7 doting grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Gregory, Brett, Matthew, Lexi and Jackie; her two great grandchildren, Jameson and Emmett and countless cousins, relatives and close friends all who held a special place in her heart.
We will be celebrating Elaine’s life on Friday, June 2, 2023 starting at 11:30am funeral service at Saint Peter the Apostle Church, 179 Baldwin Road, Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ 07054 – 973-334-2090 and then a luncheon repass immediately following at Ravello, 138 Eagle Rock Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936 – 973-781-9001.
