Doreen Lee King

Doreen “Lee” King, 71, of Island Heights, NJ, passed away on March 16, 2016, in Toms River, NJ. She was born in Newark, NJ, and lived in Island Heights since 1976. She was a graduate of Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City, NY.

Lee was a Fashion Illustrator at Hahne & Co. Department Store in Newark and Steinbach Department Store in Asbury Park, and a Display Artist at Bamberger’s Department Store, and also worked for the State Division of Consumer Affairs.

She loved expressing herself through painting and pottery. Lee was a member of the Island Heights Garden Club, the Island Heights Recreation Commission, the Island Heights Yacht Club, and the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.

Mrs. King was predeceased by her parents: Kermit and Doreen Giroward; and her brother Bruce Giroward. She is survived by the love of her life, Arthur “Bob” King, her husband of 44 years; her loving son Andrew Robert (Megan); her cherished grandson Michael Robert; her brother John Giroward; her nieces, Amanda and Darlene and her extended family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday March 22, 2016, at 11:00AM at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Ave, Toms River.

A private committal service will be held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River, NJ, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Presbyterian Church of Toms River in memory of Lee.
