Darrah S. Laing, age 19, of Island Heights, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016. Born in Toms River she was a lifelong resident of Island Heights. Darrah attended Island Heights Grade School, was a graduate of Central Regional High School’s class of 2014, and was currently attending Ocean County College.
Darrah, known to her friends as Queen D, was an independent woman who was passionate about her causes. She loved reading and music; she was a fashionista and a self-taught make-up artist. She was a loyal friend and loved spending time with her family and family friends. Darrah’s early life was shaped by receiving one of the earliest living-donor liver transplants and she whole-heartedly supported organ-donation.
She is survived by her parents Josh and Laurie Laing; her sister Abby; her maternal grandparents Patricia & Peter Casey; paternal grandparents Bonney Parker, and Chuck & Lynn Laing. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM at Island Heights Methodist Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made in Darrah’s memory to the Solid Organ Transplant department of the Nemours/ Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
