Cliff was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario Canada on May 10th,1939. He grew up in Fort Erie, and moved to Buffalo, New York in 1959. He joined the United States Army in 1960. He was stationed for a total of 11 years at various bases in Germany, he was decorated veteran of the Vietnam war. Receiving numerous awards, including the Bronze Star. He finished his career in Fort Dix, NJ in 1980. He retired as a Sergeant First Class, residing in Toms River. He then was employed as the Assistant Director of Environmental Services of Community Medical Center in Toms River. Retiring after 21 years at CMC, he moved to Whiting, and began working part time for Preferred Behavioral Health Group. He continued to work for approximately 10 years until he officially retired.
He was predeceased by his sister Joan MacNames (nee.Partlo), brother-in law Peter McNames, brothers Jack Waud, and Bill Waud, and nephews Kevin Mowry and Christopher Waud. He is survived by his wife of 16 years Edythe (Jan Sloan) His daughters, Virginnia Partlo of Toms River, Charlotte Partlo Chalmers, son-inlaw Douglas Chalmers of Johns Creek, Georgia, Dawn Partlo Korman, son in-law Stephen Korman of Forked River, from his first wife, Helga (nee.Pfaffenmayer); by Ken Sloan of Tennessee, John Sloan of Pennsylvania, Tim Sloan, of Mexico, Brenda Sloan, of Toms River, NJ, and Aimee Sloan of Bayville, NJ; by 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; by sisters Shirley Remmen (nee.Mann) of Florida, Lynn Thorne (nee.Waud), Ontario, Canada, Joanne Parker (nee.Waud) Ontario,Canada, his brother Brian Partlo of Ontario, Canada; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cliff was extremely patriotic, and loved life. He took pride in everything he did, he loved to work hard, he loved gardening, “tinkering” in his work shed, traveling, reading Stephen King, and listening to Frank Sinatra. He had a great sense of humor and had an infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A funeral service and military honors will be held 3 pm Thursday June 27th at the Brig.
