Chris was born and raised in Staten Island, NY where he graduated from Port Richmond High School. He raised his children in Toms River, NJ before retiring from the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. Chris was very proud to serve in the New York Army National Guard from September 19, 1969 – September 18, 1992. Chris also owned Loth Floors and Ceilings in Trenton, NJ before moving to Florida.
Chris is predeceased by his father, Frederick Walsh, and his mother Alyce (Kusker) Walsh of Howell, NJ, his first wife Kathleen (Turkus) Walsh and his grandson Liam Sherman.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Sherman of Largo, FL; his son Christopher Walsh and his wife Amy Walsh and granddaughters Emily and Isla of East Greenwich, RI, his daughter Wendi Nieuwenhuizen, her husband Marc Nieuwenhuizen, and grandsons Jack, Mason and Ryder of Toms River, NJ, his sister Barbara Hauser of Lakewood, NJ as well as his stepchildren Sean Sherman and his wife Debra of Toms River, NJ, Erin Sherman of Lantana, FL, Tim Sherman and his wife Jessica of Pt. Pleasant, NJ, and Kevin Sherman and his wife Jennifer of Toms River, NJ along with grandchildren Brennan, Nathan, Olivia, Jack, Julia & Samantha, and great grandchild Trevor, Nephew Rich Hauser and his wife Nicole of Pt. Pleasant, NJ and niece Michele and her husband Mike Walsh of Yardley, PA.
Chris was a loving father and grandfather, and he absolutely adored his family. He and Barbara loved to travel, and Chris was an avid golfer. He spent his last years in Florida enjoying life as he always wanted.
Chris will be memorialized at a Celebration of Life, at Anderson Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, New Jersey on Sunday, October 15th, 2023, from 10:00 am -12 noon. Please bring your memories to share so this is a true Celebration of his Life and friendships.
Chris will be laid to rest in New Jersey, with a Military Service as he requested, date yet to be determined.
