Carol was a teacher at heart, the last 34 years, out of her 60-year teaching career, were at The Peppermint Tree school in Toms River. Carol truly embodied the heart and soul of teaching young children. She was warm and welcoming, and was an exceptionally dedicated and talented teacher who left a legacy of lifelong learning with her many students. She taught hundreds of children to read, and many families still say that their children excelled in school because of the start they got in her class. She was also The Summer Camp Director, Head Teacher and mentored young teachers. Carol was a leader who touched many people and will be remembered as a thoughtful colleague.
She was the Treasurer for many years for the Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association for Education of Young Children. They will be honoring her with a scholarship in her name Oct of this year.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church who sang with the church choir and in her early years would teach piano in her spare time. She also had a love for the arts and was a fan Broadway Musicals.
Carol was a kind, caring, loving Wife, Mother, Mom Mom and Great Mom Mom. She loved her family with her heart and soul. She was the type of Mother who made Halloween Costumes for her children, never missed a sporting event for her children and grandchildren while working full time, teaching. All of her Grandchildren not only had the pleasure to have her as a teacher but they eventually became Summer Camp Counselors with her when they were old enough to work. She taught all of us to have empathy, integrity and to stick our heels in the ground when necessary. Carol was the backbone of our family and she will be missed more than words can express.
