Carmen was employed as a foreman with Magruder Color Company for 47 years before his retirement in 1992. He was a Navy veteran of WW II where he fought in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was also member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Colonia and a member Toms River Elks Lodge 1875 B.P.O. E.
Predeceased by his wife Winifred D’Alessio in 1988, he is survived by his wife Joan (Palumbo) D’Alessio; a son Frederick and his wife Joanne of Virginia and Florida; two daughters Arlene Chenoweth and husband George of Manchester Twp. NJ and Sheila Smith and husband James of North Carolina. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren: Mark, Craig, Pamela, Laura, Nancy, Dawn and Nicole; eight great grandchildren: Michael, Mia, Zachary, Nicholas, Matthew, Eric Jr., Justine and Anthony and a great great granddaughter Mia Bella.
Visiting will be held Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a blessing at 8:30 p.m. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ. On Friday a viewing will be held from 9:00 until the funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be Friday, 11:15 a.m. at Woodbridge Memorial Garden, Woodbridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
