Beverly June Brister, 83, of Lakewood, NJ passed away at home on February 24, 2019 surrounded by family. Beverly grew up in Eatontown and no matter where she moved to she always remained an Eatontown girl. Family was important to her and she raised her children with the values of honesty, integrity, kindness, and compassion. Beverly had a ready smile for everyone she met. Her home was always warm and welcoming and was filled with love, laughter, good food, and a hot cup of coffee. Beverly and her husband, Jack, raised six children and their home was open to any child as long as they did not lie or steal and their parents knew where they were. Though their table was small no one was ever turned away.
Over the years Beverly developed a strong faith through her fellowship and studies with the local congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It was this fellowship and faith that sustained her through her many trials.
One of Beverly’s first jobs was as a salesgirl at Ruby Lane in Red Bank. She also worked at Bendix Corporation in Eatontown. She was a carhop at the Lavender Bull, Dutch Treat, and Stewart’s Root Beer, and a waitress at Freddie’s Diner and Tang’s Chinese Restaurant. Later she became a CNA and worked at Freehold Hospital and private duty through MCOSS.
Beverly is pre-deceased by her husband, John E. Brister, Sr., her parents, Alberta DeSarno and Edwin Brand, her father, Elmer B. Naylor, sister, Audray E. Spierens, and brother, George “Bucky” Brand as well as brothers Elmer B. Naylor, Jr. and Ralph Naylor. Surviving are her children: Robin Castania, Jonesborough, TN, John E. Brister, Jr., Port Charlotte, FL, Jami Wymbs, Elmer, NJ, Edwin Brister and wife Cecilia, Oceanport, NJ, Thomas Brister and wife Kelly, Port Charlotte, FL, and Daniel Brister and wife Kim, Oceanport, NJ. as well as grandchildren Christopher Havens, David Havens, Kathleen Kipp, Daniel Brister, Joshua Wymbs, Lauren Wymbs, Edwin Brister, Jr., Benjamin Brister, Thomas Brister, Jr., Jamie Lopez, Nichole Brister, Casey Brister, 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Beverly is also survived by siblings Marjorie Rekowski, Hazel Douthitt, Lorraine Ryan, Richard Naylor, Debra Farhar, Cathee Presley, and Virginia Schnaitter.
