

Bernard Strauss, 88, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Bronx, NY. Bernard proudly served his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy. After moving to NJ, he owned and operated Burger Towne in Beachwood for 15 years. He later worked for the Toms River School System, retiring in 1992. Mr. Strauss was a member of the Novins Weisberg Jewish War Veterans Post #569. He was a very loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by them.
Bernard is predeceased by his parents, David and Sonia Strauss, his brother Nathan, and his sisters Claire and Beatrice. He is survived by his loving wife Ileane of 69 years, his son Lyle Strauss and his wife Debra, and his three grandchildren and their spouses: Mandy and Chris Chernaga, Rebecca and Travis Amble, and Tamara Strauss. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, his niece Lorraine Barolia, and his nephew Allan Strauss.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd, at 1PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River with gathering time to begin at 12:30PM. Burial will follow at Toms River Jewish Community Cemetery, Whitty Rd., Toms River. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Bernard.
